Braga went level with Benfica at the top of the Portuguese league Saturday after beating Rio Ave 1-0.

Andres Madrid scored in the 16th minute to extend Braga's unbeaten home record in the league. It was the first time the team has beaten Rio Ave in three attempts this season.

Braga and Benfica both have 55 points and have been neck and neck for most of the season.

Benfica, which has lost only once away, has a game in hand and can go clear again when it visits Nacional on Sunday.

Also Saturday, third-place Porto beat Academica 2-1, with Cristian Rodriguez scoring the winner four minutes from full time. Porto coach Jesualdo Ferreira needed the win after a 5-0 loss to Arsenal in the Champions League midweek and recent poor results in the league.

On Friday Naval beat Leiria 1-0.

Also Sunday it's: Olhanense vs. Belenenses; Leixoes vs. Setubal; and Sporting vs. Guimaraes.

On Monday it's Pacos Ferreira vs. Maritimo.
