Benfica routed Maritimo 5-0 and Braga beat Academica 2-0 on Sunday
to remain level on points at the top of the table in Portugal.
Javier Saviola, Maxi Pereira and Oscar Cardozo gave Benfica a
3-0 first-half lead before an own-goal by Roberto Sousa and
Luisao's 70th minute goal capped the easy win for Benfica as it
extended its best start in nearly two decades at the Barreiros
Stadium.
Cardozo snapped a six-game scoreless streak with his 16th
goal.
Benfica leads Braga on goal difference with the two clubs
tied on 39 points, three better than FC Porto. Sporting is fourth
with 27.
Meyong Ze opened the scoring from the penalty spot in the
41st for Braga, and Matheus doubled the lead with his injury-time
goal.
Also Sunday, Leixoes beat Belenenses 3-1 and Leiria was a 2-0
winner over Rio Ave.
On Saturday, Porto rallied for 1-1 draw against lower-table
Pacos Ferreira and Sporting held off Nacional for a 3-2 victory.
Olhanense beat Naval 1-0 and Guimaraes drew 1-1 against
bottom-table Setubal.
