A private radio station in Poland has apologized after Ukraine's Foreign Ministry condemned offensive remarks two of its journalists made about Ukrainian women.

Radio Eska Rock aired ''apologies and respect'' for Ukrainians on Friday and explained that the vulgar, sex-related remarks made earlier this week were ''fake commentary of fictional characters'' frustrated over Ukraine's superior performance in the European Championship, which the two countries are hosting.

The Union of Ukrainians in Poland has complained about the remarks to prosecutors in Warsaw and to media authorities who say they find the remarks offensive and will look into the case.

The two journalists are facing a court trial for making racist remarks on the radio station earlier this year.
