A police dog has attacked a football player in a second-division match in Brazil, nearly ripping his uniform off.

Bahia defender Alison says he was attacked while exiting the field following his team's 1-1 draw with Vila Nova late Tuesday.

TV images showed his shorts and jersey torn apart, but Alison said he was not bitten by the Rottweiler.

The dog apparently was on a leash, but the officer holding it got too close to the player.

Alison heavily complained, telling Globo TV that ''someone has to do something about it. This doesn't exist.''
