Poland fires coach Fornalik

Waldemar Fornalik has been sacked as coach of Poland's national team after 15 months in the post.

The Polish Football Association made the announcement less than 24 hours after the team had lost 2-0 to England at Wembley.

Poland ended their World Cup qualifying campaign a disappointing fourth in the Group H table - with 13 points from 10 games.

Association chairman Zbigniew Boniek thanked the 50-year-old Fornalik for his time in the job.

As a player, Fornalik was a defender with Ruch Chorzow for whom he made more than 200 appearances during a 12-year career.
