Players, club official acquitted in bribery trial
A court has acquitted three Czech football players and a club official of bribery charges.
Goalkeeper Petr Drobisz of topflight club Olomouc was charged with paying a bribe while two former players of the Bohemians Prague club - Miroslav Obermajer and David Zoubek - and its chief executive were charged with accepting a bribe.
Drobisz was accused of paying Bohemians' players 300,000 koruna ($16,640) to lose a game at the end of the 2008-09 season. Olomouc won the match 3-0 and qualified for European competition.
The court in Olomouc ruled Tuesday there was not enough evidence to prove the charges.
The Czech football federation, which already fined Drobisz and Olomouc and deducted its nine competition points, said it accepted the verdict but its punishment remains in place.
