Three men have been detained in Brazil accused of attacking Palmeiras striker Vagner Love because of his poor performances.
The former Brazil striker says he exchanged punches and kicks with the men outside a bank Tuesday until a security guard intervened. No one was hurt.
Love has scored five goals since returning to Palmeiras in August after a stint with CSKA Moscow.
Palmeiras dropped from first to third in the Brazilian league and has only a slim chance of winning the title with one round left. Palmeiras needs to beat Botafogo on Sunday and hope leader Flamengo and second-place Internacional fail to win their matches.
