An adviser to UEFA President Michel Platini says that the development of England's national team has been hampered by professional football's domination of the game in the country.
William Gaillard has told the British government's culture, media and sport committee that England's Football Association ''is probably in a weaker spot than any other FA in Europe'' partly because of the power and influence of the Premier League.
Gaillard said Tuesday that the FA should emulate countries including the Netherlands by appointing a technical director to oversee the development of players for the national team.
