UEFA President Michel Platini says he is not opposed to a bid by the Czech Republic and Slovakia football federations to set up one league for the two nations despite such proposals being banned by UEFA rules.

The two federations came with the proposal earlier this year after UEFA didn't rule out its approval.

After a UEFA meeting in Prague on Friday, Platini says he doesn't ''have a negative stance on it in general terms.''

But he said a ''broad study process'' was still necessary because the proposal is complicated and would have to include lower-tier leagues to allow clubs to be relegated and promoted.
