Pires hopes to go on playing

BY foxsports • May 25, 2011

Pires joined Villa as a free agent on a short-term contract in November, but made just 12 appearances for the Premier League club. The Frenchman is now considering his options and has previously claimed that Thierry Henry has tried to convince him to move to New York Red Bulls, although the latter has denied the story. Pires, who began his career at Metz in 1992, is planning for another season, though, and is eager to finish on a high before he hangs up his boots. He told L'Equipe: "My experience at Aston Villa has been a failure. I would not like to end that way and so will play a 20th season. "But if at the end of the summer I have no offer I will stop."
