Phillips wants more Blues starts

The veteran striker has started only three games in all competitions this season, but has scored on each occasion for Blues. His latest effort brought Birmingham level at 2-2 in their cup quarter-final on Saturday only for Lee Chung-yong's late winner to send Bolton into the last four. Phillips has yet to start a Premier League game this term and is waiting to see if his performance against Bolton will persuade manager Alex McLeish to give him more playing time. The 37-year-old said: "That's three starts and three goals this season, you can't argue with that! "You'll have to ask the manager if I deserve more games - all I can do is try and do well when I am given the chance. "I really enjoyed the game, I felt I was getting stronger as it went on." The Carling Cup winners can now focus on their fight for Premier League survival and Phillips was at least thankful there was no FA Cup replay. He added: "I suppose if there is anything to come out of it, where we are in the league, at least we haven't got a replay. "That's a fixture we could have done without."
