Caretaker boss Jimmy Phillips is pleased with preparations ahead of his first game in the Bolton dugout against Bristol City.

Saturday's Reebok Stadium clash is Wanderers' first clash since the club parted company with Owen Coyle at the start of last week.

Former Trotters midfielder Phillips, 46, has taken training along with one-time boss Sammy Lee and is ready for one final push before meeting Derek McInnes' Robins following the return of an international contingent including Republic of Ireland midfielder Keith Andrews, South Korea wideman Lee Chung-Young and England Under-21 striker Marvin Sordell.

"We have been really pleased with the response and I like to think the players have enjoyed the sessions, especially considering some of our ideas may be new to them," Phillips told the club's official website.

"We got the five lads returning from international duty and thankfully they are all fit. They have missed out on a week's training so we will make sure that they have all the information that we have put across to the other lads over the last seven or eight days.

"The slight changes we may have done with the players have been done with the sole aim to improve them and hopefully get a winning performance against Bristol City."
