Pastore helps PSG reclaim top spot
Paris St Germain took over at the top of the Ligue 1 table with a 4-1 home win over lowly Ajaccio.
After their title rivals all faltered on Saturday Carlo Ancelotti's side cashed in fully as quickfire goals from Javier Pastore and Jeremy Menez on the half-hour sent them on their way.
Yoann Poulard pulled a goal back on 42 minutes but late goals from Guillaume Hoarau and Nene sealed a win to move them a point clear at the top.
On a day Ancelotti's successor at Chelsea, Andre Villas-Boas, was sacked after just eight months in charge the Italian is in pole position to win another league title in his long career.
The 52-year-old had seen closest rivals Montpellier and Lille both held yesterday but came into the match on the back of three successive league draws of their own.
And they rode their luck early with defender Christophe Jallet inadvertently forcing the ball against his own crossbar following Samuel Bouhours' cross on eight minutes.
PSG were then denied by the woodwork themselves through Nene, while Hoarau wasted two gilt-edged chances in a frantic opening 20 minutes.
Record signing Pastore opened the scoring on 27 minutes after he played a superb one-two with Blaise Matuidi outside the area before bursting into the area and beating Guillermo Ochoa.
It was 2-0 moments later following another flowing move.
This time Nene, Pastore and Menez all linked up before the latter beat Fousseni Diawara and crashed a shot under Ochoa's crossbar.
The Corsicans grabbed a lifeline just before the break, though, when the PSG defence failed to clear and Poulard pounced after Salvatore Sirigu could not control Diawara's shot.
Ajaccio narrowly failed to equalise after the break, when Damien Tiberi poked wide, but they rarely threatened thereafter.
Pastore and Nene were inches wide of making it 3-1 before Hoarau finally sealed the game on 85 minutes, dinking his shot over the advancing Ochoa.
The hosts then celebrated a fourth in injury time when Clement Chantome met a cross at the back post with a shot that deflected in off Nene.
