Bradford manager Phil Parkinson feels Saturday's success at Oxford could prove to be a pivotal win for the club this season.

Parkinson, who made wholesale changes at Valley Parade this summer in a bid to mount a promotion challenge, was delighted by his side's first away league win that lifted them up to fourth place in the League Two table.

"We had a chat with the lads on Thursday and we said that we felt this game could be a pivotal one for us," Parkinson said after goals from Andrew Davies and Nahki Wells secured a 2-0 win at the Kassam Stadium.

"Up until now we hadn't collected much on the road in the league this season despite showing at Watford and Notts County [in the Capital One Cup] that we had the qualities to do so.

"We basically asked the players to list all the different aspects they felt was needed to get the win.

"That list of important things they mentioned, we just put it up on the wall in the dressing room and that was our team talk because they'd already said what they felt was needed to win the game."
