Austria and Panama drew 0-0 on Friday on the first day of the Under-20 World Cup.
The draw should help both teams, which are the underdogs in Group E behind Brazil and Egypt.
Panama goalkeeper Luis Mejia made a handful of difficult saves to salvage the draw and keep Panama in the match. His best save came in the 54th when he pulled off an impressive block on a Daniel Offenbacher shot.
Panama started quickly, but offered little after the first 15 minutes with Austria pressing the play in hot conditions.

Panama will next face Egypt while Austria goes up against Brazil.
