Palermo has sacked coach Devis Mangia after the 2-0 derby defeat to Catania, marking the ninth coaching change in Serie A this season - and the second at the Sicilian club.

A brief statement released by the club confirmed Mangia and his staff have been dismissed after a run of one win from five games.

Mangia took over at the club at the end of August, initially on a temporary basis, but a string of impressive results saw him sign a permanent deal on Nov. 4.

Roberto Donadoni (Cagliari) and Stefano Pioli (Palermo) were sacked before the season began. The other firings were Gian Piero Gasperini (Inter Milan), Pierpaolo Bisoli (Bologna), Marco Giampaolo (Cesena), Sinisa Mihajlovic (Fiorentina), Massimo Ficcadenti (Cagliari) and Eusebio Di Francesco (Lecce).
