Gian Piero Gasperini has rescinded his contract with Palermo, opening the way for Giuseppe Sannino's possible return and the fourth coaching change for the last-place Sicilian club this season.

Palermo now has more coaching changes than wins this season (three).

Sannino was replaced by Gasperini in September, Alberto Malesani was hired at the beginning of February, then Gasperini returned two weeks ago.

Gasperini's latest spell lasted just two matches, a 0-0 draw at Torino then a 2-1 loss at home to direct relegation rival Siena on Sunday.

Palermo president Maurizio Zamparini has made about 35 firings and had 43 different managers in a quarter century, first at Venezia from 1987-2002 then at Palermo.

It's the 13th coaching change in Serie A this season.

Palermo is tied for last with Pescara.
