Oktoberfest turns bitter for Augsburg players

Police are investigating a brawl during Oktoberfest involving players from promoted Bundesliga side Augsburg.

A Munich police spokesman said Tuesday ''it's still to be determined how many people were involved'' in Sunday's fracas.

One visitor was slightly injured in the disturbances and subsequently filed a complaint of assault.

The dapd news agency reported that the brawl was triggered by abusive chants directed at the Augsburg players.

Club spokesman Dominik Schmitz told dapd: ''We will assist the police with their investigations but can't say any more because of the ongoing proceedings.''
