O'Hara: Pompey can beat the drop

The Tottenham man has been allowed to re-join the Fratton Park outfit for the rest of the season after Pompey's transfer ban was lifted. O'Hara's comeback is a welcome ray of light for manager Avram Grant, who is expected to lose defender Younes Kaboul and goalkeeper Asmir Begovic to Spurs. There are also doubts over whether Ivorian international Aruna Dindane will return to Fratton Park, after his parent club Lens tried to sell him to Birmingham on Friday. Despite this, O'Hara is certain Pompey still have what it takes to close the five-point gap between them and Premier League safety. While he has missed the Blues' last two matches as their transfer embargo prevented him from extending his stay, the 23-year-old is ready to play his part. He told the club's official website: "I still think we can do it (stay up), otherwise I wouldn't have come back. "It might take me a couple of games to get back to full match fitness because I haven't been playing at Spurs. "But I've only missed two Premier League games for Pompey and I'm hoping to carry on where I left off." O'Hara may not have been able to go out on loan to another club this term, as FIFA rules prevent players from representing more than two teams in one season. But with his first-team chances limited at White Hart Lane, O'Hara was always keen to return to Fratton Park rather than warm the Spurs substitutes' bench. He added: "I'm delighted to be back. I really enjoyed playing here in front of Pompey's fantastic fans. "As soon as the transfer embargo was lifted I was hopeful that I could come straight back. "Harry Redknapp wanted me to stay at Tottenham but I'd rather be playing every week in a relegation scrap than sitting on the bench."
