The 25-year-old has not played for the Molineux club since March and has used Twitter to inform fans that he expects to spend a further eight weeks on the sidelines.
The former Spurs man has played just 19 games for Wanderers since his ?5million move last summer, and is now not likely to feature until November.
O'Hara posted: "Sorry to disappoint the fans but am having surgery tomorrow (Wednesday) on my hernia - the first operation didn't seem to work.
"I'm hoping to be fit in around eight weeks so I'll have a lot of the season left.

"I'd rather take my time now than rush it and have problems for the rest of my career."
