Nuremberg has released Greece striker Angelos Charisteas on a free transfer to the promoted French first division club Arles-Avignon.
Charisteas helped Greece win the European Championship in 2004. But the 30-year-old striker was no longer required by Nuremberg coach Dieter Hecking.
Charisteas scored eight goals in 57 games over three years for the Bundesliga club.
