Nuremberg has fired coach Michael Wiesinger after a 5-0 loss at home to Hamburger SV in the Bundesliga.

The club says the club's under-23 side coach Roger Prinzen will take the job provisionally until a new head coach is appointed.

Nuremberg's director of sports Martin Bader says that after the comprehensive defeat on Sunday and after analyzing the season until now, the club had no other possibility but to make the ''difficult decision'' to fire Wiesinger and his assistant Armin Reutershahn.

The pair took over in December 2012 and Nuremberg finished 10th last season. It has only five points from eight matches this season and sits 16th in the 18-team league.
