Norway beats Czech 3-0 in friendly
Mohammed Abdellaoue scored two goals to help Norway beat the Czech Republic 3-0 in a friendly on Wednesday.
The Hannover 96 striker, known as ''Moa,'' opened scoring in the 23rd minute, dribbling past two defenders and shooting from 18 meters (yards). His second goal came from a penalty in the 87th.
Captain John Arne Riise had given Norway a 2-0 lead in the 72nd.
Norway started aggressively, and Norway defender Kjetil Waehler's header from a ninth-minute corner bounced off the crossbar out of reach of Czech goalkeeper Petr Cech.
After the 25-year-old Moa's opener, Cech was called into action four minutes before halftime when the Chelsea goalkeeper saved a close-range shot by midfielder Morten Gamst Pedersen.
The Czechs played better after the break, with Tomas Pekhart's shot from a tight angle in the 67th blocked by Norway goalkeeper Rune Jarstein.
Riise, who recently joined Fulham, scored four minutes later from 12 meters (yards). Cech got his hand on the ball, but it rolled into the goal.
Norway was awarded a penalty when Cech brought down Norwegian substitute Tarik Elyounoussi, and Abdellaoue calmly converted the spot kick in front of about 13,000 fans at Ullevaal Stadium.
Norway coach Egil Olsen was pleased with his team's performance.
''Today we both played well and won,'' he told reporters.
A minute's silence was held before kickoff and both teams wore black armbands to honor the 77 people killed in last month's attacks when Anders Behring Breivik detonated a car bomb in Oslo before a shooting rampage at a youth camp outside the capital.
