North Korea beat Qatar 1-0 on Friday in a warm-up match ahead of next week's Asian Cup.
Midfielder Ryang Yong-Gi converted a penalty in the 69th, and North Korea's stingy backline neutralized the Qatari attack to hold on for the victory.
North Korea opens play at the Asian Cup next week against the United Arab Emirates. Iran and defending champion Iraq are also in North Korea's group.
Host Qatar plays Uzbekistan, China and Kuwait in its group.
