New low for struggling River Plate
River Plate continued its terrible run with a 3-1 loss Sunday at home against struggling Olimpo.
River Plate has picked up only three points from a possible 21 in its last seven matches, falling near the bottom of the first-division standings with 17 points in 16 games. Olimpo has only 11.
Giovanni Simeone gave River a 1-0 lead in the ninth minute, before Olimpo rallied with goals from Martin Perez Guedes, Ivan Furios and David Vega.
Angry fans at River's Monumental stadium chanted, ''Out, all of you,'' with loud jeers as the team left the field.
In another Sunday match, Ramiro Caseres scored all three goals as Velez Sarsfield defeated Rosario Central 3-2. Walter Acuna scored in the 86th for Rosario and Gonzalo Castillejos added a second two minutes later.
On Saturday, San Lorenzo defeated Belgrano 4-2 to take the lead with 30 points. Newell's Old Boys have 29 points and can move clear at the top with a victory Monday over Tigre.
Also on Saturday, All Boys lost 3-2 to Lanus 3, Godoy Cruz downed Estudiantes 2-1 and Quilmes drew 1-1 with Racing Club. On Friday, Gimnasia and Argentinos Juniors drew 0-0.
