Europa League will have a new broadcast partner starting in 2012, with FOX Soccer having acquired exclusive rights to air the event in the United States, it was announced on Wednesday.
The three-year agreement between UEFA and the channel will begin with the 2012-13 tournament and extend through 2015, with 205 matches planned for air in 2012-13 across multiple FOX networks. FOX Soccer also plans to make matches available via their mobile platforms, FOXSoccer.tv and FOXSoccer2Go.
FOX Soccer already holds exclusive US broadcast rights to UEFA Champions League, rights General Manager David Nathanson highlighted in the channel's Wednesday announcement.
“The combination of the UEFA Champions and Europa leagues provide viewers with the complete club competition experience at the highest level,” said David Nathanson, General Manager of FOX Soccer. “The fact that all the leading European teams and players can now be seen on one destination speaks to FOX Soccer’s total commitment to showcase the world’s best. No other TV network has an elite international soccer schedule that even comes close.”
FOX Soccer's deal to broadcast Champions League also runs through the 2014-15 tournament.
