Teenager striker Memphis Depay was summoned for the first time by the Netherlands on Friday for upcoming World Cup qualifiers.

The Netherlands, already assured of first place in Europe Group D, hosts second-place contender Hungary next Friday and travels to Turkey four days later.

The 19-year-old Depay, at PSV Eindhoven, scored a spectacular long-range goal against FC Chornomorets Odessa in Europa League play on Thursday.

''It's actually too early, he should play for the youth team, but there's nobody else I like, that's all,'' national coach Louis van Gaal said. ''He's a player for the future ... he's definitely going to grow.''

Van Gaal also recalled Gregory van der Wiel and Nigel de Jong after long absences as they have returned to form with Paris Saint-Germain and AC Milan, respectively.

Van der Wiel replaces FC Augsburg defender Paul Verhaegh. ''Verhaegh is in the waiting room for a bit, because I want to see Van der Wiel,'' Van Gaal said.

The trainer also summoned Ajax's new first goalkeeper, Jasper Cillessen, to replace injured PSV keeper Jeroen Zoet. And, despite a public spat before Oranje's last set of matches, Van Gaal summoned Galatasaray midfielder Wesley Sneijder.
