Nancy are still looking for their first Ligue 1 win of the season after being held to a home draw by promoted Evian on Saturday night.

Loosemy Karaboue had given Nancy hope of claiming a maiden victory after putting his side ahead in the 54th minute, but Evian drew level soon after through Cedric Mongongu's penalty to earn a share of the spoils.

Nancy remain bottom of the table after recording their fourth draw in their last five matches, while mid-table Evian stay three points above their opponents.

Both sides had opportunities to take the lead in the opening five minutes but Nancy's Jonathan Brison saw his shot saved by Bertrand Laquait before Evian striker Jerome Leroy was denied by a crucial intervention from home defender Jordan Loties.

Laquait was then called on again to keep out Karaboue's well-struck shot in the 22nd minute, although the Evian custodian needed the help of his defence to clear the ball before any Nancy player could pounce on the loose ball.

Nancy continued to look the more likely scorers before the break with Benjamin Moukandjo failing to beat Laquait when one-on-one in the 29th minute before the Evian goalkeeper produced a fine block on the line 60 seconds later to keep out Jung Jo-gook's powerful volley.

Evian had the first opening of the second period, with Leroy seeing his acrobatic overhead kick go narrowly wide, but it was Nancy who took the lead in the 52nd minute.

A poor clearance was picked up by Karaboue on the edge of the box and he beat Olivier Sorlin before finally finding a way past Laquait.

Nancy were ahead for less than 10 minutes however, with Evian drawing level from the spot.

Loties conceded the penalty for his challenge on Yannick Sagbo and Mongongu sent Damien Gregorini the wrong way from 12 yards.

Nancy had one late chance to try and claim their first win of the campaign when Djamel Bakar cut inside to open up a shooting chance, but his effort hit the side-netting.
