Manchester United manager David Moyes played down injury concerns surrounding Wayne Rooney following the 2-0 victory at Stoke on Wednesday.
The England striker missed the Capital One Cup quarter-final trip to the Britannia Stadium due to a groin injury and there were fears he could be sidelined for the busy festive period.
Danny Welbeck started up front on his own against the Potters in the absence of Robin van Persie.
But Moyes revealed after the game that Rooney's injury is not too serious and the Scotsman is hopeful that he will be fit for Saturday's Premier League game against West Ham at Old Trafford.
"It's a groin strain," noted Moyes.
When asked if Rooney could be available to face the Hammers, Moyes replied: "He has got a chance, yes."
Dutch striker Van Persie was ruled out of action for four weeks due to a thigh problem last week.
