Morocco's team doctor says backup goalkeeper Issam Badda has been diagnosed with a ''benign'' form of malaria at the African Cup of Nations in Gabon and received a blood transfusion at a hospital in the capital, Libreville.
Hefti Abderrazak says Badda was released from the hospital later Wednesday after the transfusion. He says the reserve keeper is recovering at the team hotel and is still receiving treatment for Type 3 malaria.
The team said striker Marouane Chamakh was also recovering after picking up a stomach illness.
Abderrazak added the Moroccan players were taking malaria medication for their trip to the tournament in the central African country, where the disease is prevalent.
