Sergio Santana scored the only goal of the game, leading Mexican club Monterrey to a 1-0 victory over Marathon of Honduras on Wednesday in the final Group C game in the CONCACAF Champions League.
Monterrey had already clinched first place in Group C and a spot in the quarterfinals. Marathon was out of quarterfinals contention before the match began.
Saprissa of Costa Rica claimed the other quarterfinal spot from the group with a 2-1 victory Tuesday over the Seattle Sounders of the MLS. The quarterfinals begin in February.
