Monaco held to goalless Ligue 1 draw by Lille
MONACO -- A superb performance from Lille goalkeeper Vincent Enyeama held Monaco to a goalless draw at home in the French league on Friday.
Ahead of the first leg of its Champions League playoff against Valencia, Monaco had the best chances but could not find a way past Enyeama, one of the league's best keepers.
The 32-year-old Nigerian first denied Nabil Dirar's effort from close range with a save to his right after 12 minutes, then pushed the ball away with a diving save from Joao Moutinho's shot on the stroke of halftime.
Monaco, which moved provisionally to the top of the standings with four points from two games, continued its pressing after the interval but Enyeama was decisive again in the 77th, keeping a firm hand to stop Ricardo Carvalho's header.
