Harry Redknapp has revealed Ledley King's groin operation has been put back to next week because the defender lost his passport.

The 30-year-old, who has been plagued by injuries in recent years, particularly to his knees, had been due to have surgery in Germany yesterday.

Redknapp told the Evening Standard on Wednesday night: "He should have had his operation today. He couldn't make it. Why? It's a long story. (It's) next week now.

"He couldn't find his passport, so he couldn't fly out to have it done. He mislaid it."

King, who has not played for Tottenham since limping off during his side's 2-1 win at Fulham last October, could now be out for longer than expected.

The news adds to Redknapp's defensive worries, with Michael Dawson suspended and Younes Kaboul and William Gallas injured.
