Millwall boss Kenny Jackett has confirmed he is willing to break a 23-year-old transfer record to buy in-form striker Chris Wood.

Jackett will offer West Brom ?1million to keep the New Zealand international at The Den come January.

Wood has played a huge part in Millwall's success so far this season, scoring eight goals in 16 appearances since joining from the Baggies in September.

"We like Chris - he has done very well for us," Jackett told the London Evening Standard.

"I think he has had two very good, experienced partners alongside him in Darius Henderson and Andy Keogh but he is a player we would definitely like to pursue once his loan expires.

"Would that be a permanent deal? Yes. We will have to see what January brings, but it is no secret that we like Chris and we would like to keep him."
