The 24-year-old Spanish midfielder was signed earlier this week from Sporting Gijon in a £3million deal. He became City manager Alex McLeish's first signing during the January transfer window in which new owner Carson Yeung has promised to make "£20million to £40million" available for new players. A Blues spokesperson confirmed: "Birmingham City have received international clearance for Michel and he would be eligible to play against Portsmouth should he be selected."
