Meyler eyes eight from eight

Hull midfielder David Meyler has targeted eight wins from the final eight games of the season to secure the club automatic promotion back to the Premier League.

The Tigers, relegated in 2010 following their first stint in the top flight, have lost three of their last five league games following the weekend defeat to Nottingham Forest, but still occupy the second automatic promotion slot and are two points better off than third-placed Watford.

"When we had 10 games to go, I sat down with my father and my best pal and said I wanted to win all 10 of them," Meyler told the club's official website.

"We won the first one and lost the second, which leaves us with another eight to go.

"Nothing has changed, I want to win the next eight games and I want 24 points - I'm not looking at anything else."

Meyler, who signed a three-and-a-half year deal with Hull when he joined for a reported ?1.5million fee from Sunderland in January, admits the Tigers must rediscover their consistency.

"If you look at the last few weeks, we've been stop-start, stop-start, stop-start," the Irishman added.

"That isn't really like us, certainly in the time I've been here. We had been consistent with four or five wins, a draw and maybe a defeat before starting the pattern again.

"To be win-lose isn't like us and the manager is trying to get that out of us and get us back to playing the football we can play, the entertaining wins that the fans love to see."
