UNAM Pumas downed Monterrey 2-0 and Morelia beat America 3-2 Sunday to qualify for the Mexican Clausura championship semifinals.
Efrain Velarde in the sixth minute and Luis Fuentes came off the bench to score his first goal of the season in the 74th for Pumas to level the home-and-away series 3-3. Pumas moved on based on their better season record.
''It was a very important goal but it's a just reward for everybody's effort,'' said Fuentes, who came into the match in the 61st. ''We made a great sacrifice, we fight and that was the result.''
Ecuadorian striker Joao Rojas scored twice as Morelia advanced with a 5-3 aggregate.
America took and early lead with a Diego Reyes goal in the fourth minute, but Rojas equalized in the 31st and added his second in the 60th.
Rafael Marquez converted a penalty in the 47th for Morelia, which is trying to get to a Mexican final for the first time since 2003.
Matias Vuoso also scored for America in the 64th.
In the semifinals, Pumas will play Chivas while Morelia faces Cruz Azul.
