Chivas regained the outright lead in Mexico's Clausura tournament with a 6-2 win over Santos on Saturday.

The victory, coupled with Monterrey's 1-1 draw with Jaguares, gave Chivas a two-point lead over Monterrey.

The Guadalajara club has 28 and Monterrey is on 26.

In other matches Saturday it was Queretaro 2, Atlas 1; Atlante 3, Ciudad Juarez 0; Pachuca 1, Morelia 0; Toluca 1, Tigres 0.

On Friday, Estudiantes defeated Cruz Azul 2-1.

Guadalajara went ahead 1-0 on Jonathan Lacerda's own-goal in the first minute, but Santos rallied to take a 2-1 lead when Argentine Walter Jimenez scored in the 18th and 21st.

Then the flood gates opened with Chivas scoring five unanswered goals from Omar Arellano (38), Hector Reynoso (45), Javier Hernandez (60), Marco Fabian (89) and Alberto Medina (90).

Chivas opened the season with a record eight consecutive victories, but had failed to win in its last three matches.

Santos stayed on 24 points, still in the chase.

Osvaldo Martinez scored the equalizer for Monterrey in the 68th minute in a draw which left the club unbeaten in 10 straight matches.
