Israel Lopez scored from a header in the 69th for Estudiantes who suffered a fifth straight loss that might cost the job to manager Jose Luis Sanchez Sola.

''I think we were the better team in the second half, where we had three scoring chances but we could not convert them,'' Estudiantes defender Juan Carlos Leano said. ''But it's just like they said, 'the skinny dog gets the most fleas.'''

In Morelia, Christian Bermudez put Atlante ahead in the 49th minute, but Joel Huiqui equalized with a cross from Jaime Lozano in the 75th and Miguel Sabah got the winner for Morelia in the 81st.

Morelia has not lost since the first round and notched its third straight win.

In Estadio Azteca, Angel Reyna (43rd), Aquivaldo Mosquera (50th), Daniel Montenegro (53rd) and Vicente Sachez (68th) scored for America, which has 13 points in Group 2.
