Ballon d'Or contender Lionel Messi says he doesn't want to leave Barcelona - but admits that he does not know what will happen in the future.

In the past week, Inter Milan chief executive Ernesto Paolillo has made no secret of the Italian and European champions' desire to sign the Argentina superstar.

It would likely take a sensational transfer fee to tempt Primera Liga title holders Barcelona to sell a man who won the 2009 Ballon d'Or and FIFA World Player of the Year.

And Messi himself has also indicated that he has no wish to leave Barcelona, where he has developed into a global phenomenon since joining the club's youth ranks in 2004.

The 23-year-old told France Football: "Inter Milan? Today I feel so fine at Barcelona.

"I have no desire to leave. But you never know what can happen. When everything is beautiful, you don't think about it.

"But when everything becomes more difficult, who knows? Anyway, I have so much fun at Barcelona. You can write I hope it will remain like that for ever!"

Messi is among the nominees for the 2010 Fifa Ballon d'Or, which is a new merge of the Ballon d'Or and Fifa World Player of the Year.

His Barcelona team-mates Andres Iniesta, Xavi, Carles Puyol and David Villa are also on the initial shortlist for the award alongside their Spanish compatriots Iker Casillas, Xabi Alonso and Cesc Fabregas.

If he can not retain the title of the planet's best player himself, Messi is hopeful that the award will remain at the Camp Nou but he expects Spain's status as world champions to carry significant sway.

"What I wish the most is for the Ballon d'Or to remain in our changing-room," he said.

"I would love to get it another time in a row. It would be really great, but I believe the World Cup will have a big importance in the final decision."
