Arsenal signing Per Mertesacker says he has been drawn to the club for over 10 years, ever since he went to England as a teenager to visit an aunt.
Germany defender Mertesacker says Thursday he remembers returning with an Arsenal jersey, while his brother had that of Premier League rival Manchester United.
Mertesacker says, ''Somehow a circle has closed for me. I'm very happy to finally be able to play for the club I've romanticized about for years.''
The 26-year-old central defender completed a transfer from Werder Bremen on Wednesday for a reported ?10 million ($14.5 million).

Mertesacker - who has 75 caps for Germany - was speaking at a press conference ahead of Friday's 2012 European Championship qualifier against Austria.
