Mendes makes Sporting move
Rangers boss Walter Smith has confirmed Pedro Mendes has completed
his move to Sporting Lisbon.
The two clubs agreed a fee for the 30-year-old Portuguese
midfielder on Friday.
But Smith was pessimistic about his chances of bringing
another player to Ibrox following Gers' 3-0 win against Falkirk.
He said: "We have lost both Pedro and Jerome Rothen and that
would free up a little bit of money to get a player in on loan.
"We are currently having a look around to see if we can find
someone. We've had no success so far and, if we don't have any, we
won't bring someone in just for the sake of it. We'll have to wait
and see what transpires."
Mendes joined Rangers from Portsmouth in August 2008 on a
three-year deal and helped them win the Clydesdale Bank Premier
League and Scottish Cup double last season.
