Jacob Mellis scored twice as Barnsley sank Rotherham 3-2 in an exciting pre-season friendly.

Mellis opened the scoring a minute into the second half with a spectacular effort into the top corner from just outside the area after being teed up by Stephen Dawson's short free-kick.

After 55 minutes he doubled the lead when he latched onto a pass from Chris O'Grady and tucked the ball home from 10 yards.

Mellis was unfortunate not to complete his hat-trick as a brilliant solo effort was cleared off the line after 66 minutes.
