The Merseyside rivals have both been credited with an interest in Jarvis, who has been tipped for an England call-up this season, but Mick McCarthy has no intention of letting the former Gillingham man leave. "We're in a relegation scrap and the only way we will be able to dig our way out is with our best players," said McCarthy. "They are here for the long haul and if anyone comes in for Jarvo or anyone else, they can Foxtrot Oscar." Meanwhile, McCarthy has denied reports that striker Steven Fletcher, who only joined the club in the summer, is set to leave next month. "All the nonsense about him leaving - there is no chance," added McCarthy. "I don't believe he said what was in the paper."
