Martinez: Wigan are united
As the Spaniard prepares to take charge of the club for the 100th time on Saturday, the Latics sit bottom of the Premier League. They have lost their last eight league games and have picked up only five points from 11 league games. Martinez told The Sun: "I'm extremely proud of the way we face adversity. "Everything we do is for our fans so we have real unity about us. We face adversity in a unique way - fans have a moan about results but at the next match everyone is right behind the team. "The key to our success has been the fact we have a real leader in our chairman. He is an inspiration to everyone. "A sense of togetherness is one of the reasons why we keep defying those people who say we are certainties to be relegated every season. "After the way we fought our way out of trouble last season, club unity is stronger than ever."
