Martinez wants DW fortress
The Premier League's bottom club have two home games coming up against Birmingham and Tottenham respectively, with their clash against the Blues becoming an all-important relegation six-pointer. Martinez knows the importance of their home games in keeping them up from now till the end of the season, and has urged the fans to create a cauldron of noise to put fear into their opponents. "We have to make it an intimidating place to come to and show how desperate we are for those points," he told the club's official website. "Throughout our club's history we've always stuck together and become stronger. "We love to beat the odds and upset the normal opinions in the game, and we'll make to continue the fantastic story of Wigan Athletic with another great challenge ahead of us." The Spaniard spoke of his disappointment at seeing his team narrowly lose 1-0 at Manchester City, where Wigan came close on a couple of occasions, but went home with nothing. "We were all disappointed that we couldn't get the goal we deserved towards the end. "The fans were fantastic from the first second until the very end. "Obviously being away from home we were outnumbered but in terms of quality and voice throughout the game it was something to be very proud of, a magnificent support on the day. "That's why it hurt so much after the game, because we couldn't reward our fans with the points their support deserved."
