Although managers usually dislike having their players away with their countries, Martinez says the time can also be put to good use back at home. The Latics' boss told the club's website: "As it stands we've had the international break and we've used it as a good distraction. "Some of the players needed a break so they've used that time accordingly whereas others needed to complete specific work and I believe we've been able to do that during this time. "So it's been a beneficial period for those players who have stayed behind and now we can re-focus and re-group to prepare for what is a really exciting game at the weekend. "The group probably will not be completely together until Friday which sounds quite remarkable but these are the adaptations you have to make during international breaks."
