The 22-year-old Mexico international joined the Red Devils last year and has already proven himself as a top-class finisher during his time at Old Trafford. Hernandez netted a brace in the 4-0 demolition of Latics in the Premier League on Saturday and has scored 13 goals in 29 appearances for United so far. Martinez could only watch on as the young forward put his defence to the sword at the weekend but claims Wigan were priced out of a move for 'Chicharito' while he was at Guadalajara. "He was a player that went out of our market," Martinez said. "But obviously he's a real talent who Manchester United probably captured before he caught the eye of anyone." On his performance at the DW Stadium, the Spaniard added: "He looked really, really sharp and very lively. "He's taken the step up into the Premier League really well and he has real quality. "He is one of the most natural finishers in the league and he has only been here a few months. "Everyone was aware of him when he played for Mexico. After the World Cup you could see he was ready for a big club. He is tactically impressive and a real asset." Wigan's bid to avoid relegation from the top flight continues when the rock-bottom outfit take on Manchester City at Eastlands on Saturday.
