Marseille president Vincent Labrune says the club will not stand in striker Andre-Pierre Gignac's way if he wants to leave.

The 26-year-old Gignac cost ?16.5 million ($22 million) when he joined before the start of last season, but has never shown any consistency for Marseille and has lost his place in the France squad.

Labrune said on RMC radio Thursday that ''if he thinks that Marseille is the club where he can blossom, he will stay'' but ''if he prefers to leave, we will let him.''

Gignac has another 3 1/2 years left to run on his contract and almost joined Fulham last August.

Labrune adds that ''we've received no (new) offer from Fulham.''

Gignac, who is recovering from a groin injury, has scored only eight league goals in 39 games for Marseille.
