Marseille's improved form in Ligue 1 continued as they registered their third successive win with two second half goals seeing off local rivals Nice.
The visitors gave a good account of themselves - hitting the woodwork twice in the opening half an hour - but eventually succumbed to a 75th-minute Jordan Ayew header and a Loic Remy penalty deep into stoppage time.
Marseille, who gained a credible draw at Arsenal in the Champions League in midweek, started well and could have taken the lead after six minutes when Jeremy Morel beat Francois Clerc before crossing for Mathieu Valbuena but his header flashed narrowly over.
Didier Deschamps' men came again seven minutes later with Nice goalkeeper David Ospina getting down well to smother Andre-Pierre Gignac's low drive.
Gignac was then thwarted again by Ospina after the France striker had volleyed powerfully towards goal after good work from Remy.
Nice created their first chance after 16 minutes, Eric Mouloungui beating two defenders and crossing for Fabrice Abriel but his stunning volley crashed back off the bar.
The woodwork denied the visitors again after 29 minutes with Mouloungui the unfortunate man on this occasion, his header bouncing back off the bar.
The impressive Mouloungui saw a shot parried by Marseille keeper Steve Mandanda after 57 minutes before the hosts went in front with 18 minutes to go.
Remy provided the cross for Jordan Ayew who nodded home completely unmarked.
Mandanda denied substitute Franck Djadjede an equaliser by deflecting his shot clear with his boot in what proved Nice's final chance.
And Marseille sealed it in the 95th minute. Drissa Diakite was adjudged to have fouled Andre Ayew in the area and Remy sent Ospina the wrong way from the spot.
